Georgina McMaster

My work to date has been mainly based on animals, in particular Scottish wildlife. In 2011 I visited Madhya Pradesh, India and produced a body of work of the animals I studied at the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve for my solo exhibition at the Strathearn Gallery. Currently I am painting both the Scottish and Indian wildlife. I use acrylic paint on canvas, leaving the background blank to draw the focus purely on the animal capturing the character and soul of the animals in their eyes and the softness of the fur on the beast. I try to achieve the different textures by using lots of light layers of paint and a wide variety of brushes.
